Ssince 2day is my last day in office b4 going back to my kampung in penang, i'd like to wish all my blog readers a very happy festive seasons (both Deepavali and Raya).. happy holidays to y'all..

Man U and George Bush

Two major thing happened yesterday.. one thing is good and the other is totally bad.. well, at least for me la.. i don't know what other people think coz everybody's entitled to their own oppinion right..

1st is the UEFA Cup.. Man U won..!! Yuhooo..!! beating AC Sparta Praha with 4 - 1 , and all the goals came from Ruud van Nistelroy !! thank God they managed to wake up from those loosing streaks..!



2nd is the US Presidential election.. of course by now everybody should have known that Bush won the election edging out John Kerry.. for me it's a bad news.. i would hope that Kerry won.. not that i like him as a leader.. to me both Bush and Kerry are quite the same, but at least if Kerry won, he cannot do what Bush had done.. after all, his voters comes from those who are anti-Bush.. esp those who protested against the Iraq issue.. now that Bush holds the post for the 2nd time now, he will become ever more powerful.. and he would think that all that he had done is approved by the people.. which is clearly NOT!! this picture below proves it.. believe me it's true.. got it from http://www.alternet.org/election04/log/ .. go and read..!!

BTN, Ulu Sepri & the life after ...

(tak caya cuba korg check nnti!!) hehe .. adui.. tergelak aku sorang2 bila ingat balik.. pastu konvoi moto plak pi terawih kat masjid jln duta.. mmng best smayang kat sana.. ada air-cond & escalator.. hehe.. skang ni nak gi konvoi terawih pun, mana ada member dah.. gi kat masjid dekat2 umah je la.. itupun, semangat dia dah lain.. kalau dah malas & penat balik keje, alamatnya terbongkang la sorg2 kat umah lps bukak pose tu.. kalo kt ktsn dulu, ada jugak member yg nak ajak pi terawih.. hmm.. those memories will remain & will be cherished 4ever.. cheh jiwang plak aku ni.. kuikui..

The Hectic Life of Me

Well.. life has been so so bz lately.. i haven't had the time to update my blog.. ini pun, i had to curi2 masa to publish this entry.. u know what, yesterday i overslept for almost 12 hours..!! from at about 7 pm last night (after i came back from office) til 7 am this morning.. gosh.. i missed my prayers, my dinner, my work (which i had to bring home!!), ALIAS (haha.. not that important haa??!!) etc etc.. it's sorta like qadha' tido la mcm tu.. coz the previous day i only slept at around 1 or 2 hours finishing my works.. (tapi tak siap jugak!).. hmmm.. life has been truly hectic these days.. which is right after i came back from BTN course in Ulu Sepri, NS.. that weekend, had to fly to penang, outstation.. then it's the ezam week right now.. so this whole month we're bz preparing the xam papers, jaga xam, then marking the papers.. urrgghh.. and at the same time, me myself, i had to juggle with my masters project.. the questionnaires, literature review, clinical sample collection (from HIV patients & drug addicts in IKHLAS, near Lorong Hj Taib!!) etc etc.. and next week, hed to go outstation to Kelantan.. and plus, had some xtra things to do for the SLAB thing.. and had to browse the internet looking for a place overseas.. i don't even have the time for that, let alone to go to BC, IDP and all that to gather infos of the Us etc.. and definitely no ample time to have a good 'nite' sleep..!! or 'day' !! (excluding yesterday's.. hehe.. that's a different strory!).. and now dah tak boleh jadik 'entertainment freak' like i was b4.. kejar sana sini looking for all those hip and happening stuffs around KL.. now, i'm grounded in the office or at home or at the hospital or elsewhere working.. the latest hip thing that i experienced pun, is Malaysian Idol.. itu pun kat rumah..!! hehe.. well, i don't really mind actually with all those hectic schedule & loads of works i had to do.. i have always been bz all my life pun.. but i really need a good time off... hopefully the Raya holidays will do me good..!! ciow y'all.. and back to work for me....

Pontianak Mengganas Di Sepanyol !!

Shuhaimi Baba sekali lagi membuatkan kita bangga menjadi rakyat Malaysia.. selepas menang Pengarah Terbaik di Festival Filem Asia Pasifik (kalau tak salah) utk filem ‘Layar Lara’, beliau membuktikan kehebatannya sekali lagi.. kali ini, dgn kejayaan yg lebih manis dgn filem ‘Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam’ (PHSM) di Festival Filem Fantasi dan Seram di Estepona, Sepanyol.. Festival ni sebenarnya khusus untuk filem-filem yg mana kos pembikinannya tidak melebihi US$14 j (RM53.2 j).. Dan dgn hanya RM2.3 j bajet utk PHSM, saya bangga kerana filem ni mampu bersaing dgn 50 filem lain dr pelbagai negara dan menang 3 kategori major..

Selain anugerah Pengarah Terbaik utk Shuhaimi sendiri, PHSM juga memenangi kategori Sinematografi Terbaik dan Susunan Muzik Terbaik.. sememangnya tak perlu dipertikaikan kerana 2 aspek yg paling saya kagum tentang filem ini ialah keindahan visualnya serta skor muzik dan komposisi asal lagu Pulangkan nyanyian Misha Omar dan Ezzad Izzuddin yg memang mantap.. Walaupun tak menang Filem Terbaik, ia masih pencapaian yg sgt membanggakan bagi sebuah negara kecil spt Malaysia yg bajet perfilemannya sgt terhad berbanding 7 negara lain (spt USA, Argentina, Sepanyol, Perancis dll) yg turut disenaraikan sebagai finalis dlm kategori tersebut..

Tentang filem ni sendiri, saya berpeluang utk tonton di pawagam.. risau juga sebab dah lama juga tak tgk wayang cerita Melayu.. bkn tak menyokong industri perfileman tempatan.. jauh di sudut hati saya kalau boleh teringin jugak nak tgk semua filem karya org kita sendiri.. tapi saya tahu kalau saya pergi pun tgk wayang cerita2 Melayu, saya akan lebih kecewa bila keluar dr panggung.. bukan kecewa.. tapi lebih tepat, sedih.. sebab apa? Sebab kekadang terfikir juga, kenapa jiran2 kita mcm Indonesia dan Thailand mampu buat filem2 berkualiti spt Pasir Berbisik dan Nang Nak tapi tidak kita??.. padahal, kita duduk dan berdiri dalam rumpun yg sama.. dan kalau nak diikutkan kemampuan (dr segi kepakaran, sumber ekonomi dll), lebih kurang sama saja rasanya.. mungkin lebih lagi kalau banding dgn Indonesia.. tapi entah di mana silapnya.. kalau ikutkan pandangan saya, secara jujur, saya salahkan penonton Malaysia sendiri.. mentaliti rakyat Malaysia masih tak dpt terima filem2 dgn tema yg berat mcm Embun, Paloh, Buai Laju-laju, Kaki Bakar, Sayang Salmah, Layar Lara, Jogho dan lain2.. padahal filem2 inilah yg mengharumkan nama Malaysia di festival2 antarabangsa.. kalau org luar boleh iktiraf karya kita, kenapa tidak rakyat kita sendiri??

Jelas terang lagi bersuluh, minda rakyat kita masih mahukan filem2 dgn tema cinta yg penuh dgn elemen komersial.. kalau tidakpun, filem2 lawak yg penuh dgn unsur2 slapstik yg langsung tak menjana minda.. tapi kalau dah orang kita sendiri yg mahukan filem2 mcm tu, pengarah kita tiada pilihan lain selain menurut saja telunjuk penonton.. penggiat filem pun bekerja, berniaga cari rezeki.. siapa berani buat filem berat yg telan belanja juta2 ringgit, tapi tiada siapa pun nak tgk.. akhirnya, penggiat filem tu juga yg rugi.. sebenarnya, mereka tak patut dipersalahkan dlm hal ni.. Yusof Haslam tak bersalah kerana menghasilkan filem2 komersial walaupun kualitinya rendah.. dah itu yg penonton nak tgk.. walaubagaimanapun, saya tabik dan bangga dgn pengarah2 yg berani ambil risiko macam Shuhaimi Baba, U-Wei Hj Shaari, Erma Fatima, Adman Salleh dan generasi baru spt Yasmin Ahmad.. mereka menghasilkan filem kerana cinta mereka pada seni dan budaya bangsa.. mereka menghasilkan karya-karya jujur yg lahir dari hati.. lahirnya filem2 mereka adalah atas dasar cinta mereka.. bukan bikin filem sekadar utk mencari untung semata2, tapi filem mereka lebih utk mengajak dan mengajar penonton berfikir.. saya tertanya2 sendiri, bila agaknya org kita mahu berfikir??

Berbalik kpd filem PHSM, saya sebetulnya bangga menonton filem ini.. walaupun garapan ceritanya agak lemah (mungkin sebab terikat dgn garis panduan LPFM), tapi sekurang2nya ia merupakan permulaan yg baik bg genre filem seram.. saya kagum dgn keberanian Shuhaimi membikim filem ni.. kombinasi nilai-nilai estetika budaya Melayu yg artistik dgn nilai-nilai komersial bagi memenuhi selera penonton, nampaknya menjadi.. Pun begitu, pandangan peribadi, saya rasa masih banyak kekurangan yg perlu diberi perhatian.. terutama dr segi perjalanan cerita yg kadang2 tak lancar.. penonton kerap tertanya2 kerana tak faham apa sebenarnya yg berlaku.. sesetengah watak pula tak dikembangkan dgn baik.. cthnya watak Maria.. sesetengah watak lain pula mcm sekadar ditonjolkan tanpa maksud.. cthnya watak yg dibawa oleh Sharifah Aleya.. dr segi lakonan, Maya Karin memberi percubaan yg sgt baik.. sebagai pendatang baru usahanya wajar dipuji.. tp pd babak Maria menjelma menjadi Mariam, pertukaran transisi watak tak jelas.. Maya patut buat kajian yg lebih pd aspek watak antara Maria dan Mariam.. Azri, bagi saya memang cemerlang.. dia bg saya antara hero Melayu yg ada jiwa Melayu.. Rosyam Nor & Ida Nerina, humor mereka mmng menjadi.. Eizlan, Nanu dan Kavitha, sekadar biasa saja.. mungkin sebab watak mereka memang tak dikembangkan sepanjang cerita.. Sharonizam sebagai Danial memberi lakonan bersahaja tetapi kental jiwa dan emosinya..

Keseluruhannya, walau apapun komen saya tentang filem ini, PHSM dan kejayaannya di Sepanyol telah membuntangkan mata saya (dan harap2nya keseluruhan rakyat Malaysia juga) tentang keupayaan penggiat filem tempatan.. karyawan seni kita sebenarnya lebih daripada mampu, tapi mungkin masih takut berdepan dgn realiti penonton kita.. realiti yang penonton hanya masuk panggung semata2 utk berhibur.. mmng tak dinafikan, fungsi filem memang motifnya hiburan.. tapi alangkah bagusnya kalau hiburan yg dihidangkan itu ada buah dan bunganya.. apapun, semuanya terletak pada kemahuan kita sendiri rakyat Malaysia.. kalau penonton sendiri tak nak berubah, macam tu jugalah statiknya filem kita dan karyawan di belakangnya.. saya merayu, sokonglah industri perfileman Malaysia.. tontonlah filem epik cinta nan agung, Puteri Gunung Ledang!!
p/s: Bg mereka yg sering mengunjungi laman ini, pasti keliru dgn tulisan saya kali ni.. bkn apa, sekali-sekala seronok juga beri luahan rasa dlm bahasa ibunda.. apatah lagi apabila berbicara soal seni dan budaya.. dahla panjang pulak tu!! hehe.. oklah, nak pergi tgk PGL ni !! Jumpa lagi !!

So, my predictions are totally wrong ha..?! You guys must be laughing at me..:P Anyhow, i'm glad it's Greece that won the cup and not Portugal.. (the Portuguese trashed the teams that i support, England & Holland remember..!!??) So, the Euro fever is over now.. along with the great memories.. and funny ones too !! who can forget Beckham's penalty shoot-out!? and what a shock the underdog teams gave us.. hopefully Greece & Czech Rep (just to name a few) will continue to shine and add more spice to the football world.. apart from the fall-out of more experienced teams such as Italy, Germany, France etc.. and to the stars of Euro 04, Rooney, Zagorakis, C. Ronaldo, Baros etc, we hope to see more of these faces in the upcoming tournaments.. all the best!

Holland's Gonna Win !

'Real' dissapointment..!! It looks like an end of an era for these 2 Madrid players.. it's time for Christiano Ronaldo & Wayne Rooney to shine!! yeah !

Wow.. it's been such a long time since i last updated my blog.. initially, i planned to update the Euro 2004 matches daily, but it seems that my schedule was too tight to do so.. actually, i just came back from penang.. so this is my 1st day in office after outstation.. a lot has happened since then.. esp the Euro.. i even missed some important matches due to tiredness.. one match that i missed with much regret is the England - Portugal clash.. actually, i was already prepared to stay up that night.. and i even planned to pack my things up while watching the tv coz the next day i'll be going to penang.. and the last thing i remembered was that it's 2.30 am and i was watching Ball Talk on TV3.. but the next thing that i realised was that it's already 8 o'clock in the morning !! my God !! what happened to England ?? My stuffs were not packed up yet !! My flight is at 11.50 am, and i am scheduled to go to the airport at around 10 o'clock !! And there were still some stuffs not settled yet in the office..!!! warrgghh....!! i tried to calm down, had an expressed bath, packed my things.. and by 8.30, i was in the office.. and 1st things 1st.. the Eng-Port match.. I was so shocked to learn from my colleague that it wasn't England in the semis but the host.. it was such a dissapointment for me.. not only England lost, but i didn't watch it ??!! warrgghh.. but at least Holland makes it to the semi.. now that England was booted out, my total support goes to Holland.. U go Ruud..!! Tear those Portuguese apart !

One of the scenes in Lorong Neraka...

Last night, me & my friends (teera, aloy, ewea, teefa & dziehan) went to see one of most anticipated play of the year, LORONG NERAKA, at MTC, KL.. with a tempting title, it sure does pull some crowd.. helmed by three of the most credible theatre activists, erma fatima, ellie suriatie and adlin arman, i can simply say that it's the best play of the year.. i was mesmerized by the entire cast.. the ensemble was just perfect.. from the 'Drug Otai' - yasir (who has been to the so-called 'Festival Dadah New Zealand 1987' - is there even such a thing?!), to the wife who was forced to be a prostitute by her own husband played beautifully by betty benafe, to the 4 transvestites (kajol, milda de vega, sarah) who really got the crowd going wild, all of them cast a perfect spell.. with Lorong Hj Taib as the background, this play revovles around the dark side of KL.. how drugs ruled the street.. how a kid had to struggle the life as a son of a bitch.. etcetera.. eventhough it's hard to believe (more likely we don't want to believe), but we can't deny that what was portrayed in the play is the real thing that happened in the dark streets.. sometimes, i felt really mad to them for destroying our kids.. but at other times, i felt sorry for them.. it's not totally their fault ending up that way.. who wants to live life that way..? hmmm.. i don't really know.. have a little think....

p/s: for theatre lovers, Lorong Neraka is not to be missed..!

Hello, wazzup everybody... It's just another lazy morning today... come to think about it, it's ALWAYS a boring day each and every single day going to work... the ONLY best part about working is the SALARY.. hehe !! anyway, to me being a student is still the best part of my whole life.. lots of friends.. lots of hip & happening activities.. no worries.. no burden.. no heavy responsibilities.. wow.. i truly miss those days... miss the time when we used to hang out at uptown or bangsar late at night.. warrgghh.. hey, where are u guys..!! everybody's now gone their own way with their own career.. really hope there will come a day where we can get together again and do the same thing.. which is before anyone got MARRIED one by one..!! then there will be no more HARD ROCK CAFE or PLANET HOLLYWOOD for us... hehe.. ok u guys.. c yaa..!!
